Scenic Washington Co., KY: St. Rose Church

2011-04-29 - Near Springfield, KY - Photo by Kenny Browning, the Feedman.
868 Loretto RD, Springfield, KYChurch on the Hill: "Located on KY 152 , near Springfield in Washington County, Kentucky. Have been taking photos of this church from time to time with none of them doing it justice. A beautiful day today and for a change took the camera with me while delivering feed. This one may be the Keeper!," writes Kenny Browning, the Feedman. "I knew that St. Rose was an old church, and was listed on the National Historic Site List, but like a lot of things that are in your backyard, you take them for granted. The existing church was built in 1854 with the older part incorporated into the new construction. I always wondered why part of it was not stone like the larger portion. For those who like delving into the history of buildings, see St. Rose Priory" --Kenny Browning If you go: The church is approximately 47.5 miles north of Downtown Columbia, KY.
