March 2, 2011: Columbia in red, white & blue

2011-03-02 - Photo by Ed Waggener.
March 2, 2011 in Columbia, Adair Co., KY was another to capture, package, put in a box and sell or into memory and savor. A special slice - maybe of interest to some - framed by the Adair County Judicial Center on the left, and a remaining wall of a burned out business house on the right. Tall pine framed by white Christian crosses and countering Mughai dome; wind furled flags of state and nation. Red brick rising in stacked hillside structures. The very new, the eclectic, the nearly ancient. A tall trinity of pines. Afternoon going into gloaming. Gordon Crump's commitment spinning into mind: One evening soon, I must go back to Lindsey Hill and see the lights again. Hearing again from memory the beautiful chimes that played at dusk. Columbia then. Columbia now. Columbia 100 years ago.
