The Sisters

2011-01-15 . Campbellsville University Photo by Linda Waggener
taken at Home of Dr. Andy and Mrs. Keena Grant, Columbia, KY
In our memories we rarely think of one without the other. Affectionately known as "The Sisters," few Adair Countians needed an explanation to know that The Sisters were Mary Frances May, left and Emily Sargent. Together they brightened everyday life in Columbia with their radiance, friendliness, style and presence with the other "Fabulous Ladies," as Ann Flowers so aptly described them, who always made every important function in Columbia. Now, with the passing of Emily Sargent, Adair County has her memory to cherish, and Mary Frances May, now The Sister, to treasure. The photo was taken following Campbellsville University Day at Columbia Baptist Church where long time CU trustee Mary Frances May was presented the University's prestigious Leadership Award by CU leaders President Michael V. Carter, Vice President for Church and External Relations and Special Assistant to the President John Chowning, Vice President for Academics Frank Cheatham, Professor Ted Taylor, and Vice President for Finance Otto Tenant.
