Merry Christmas, Mr. Crump. As this picture was taken December 22, 2010, the Columbia Baptist Church Chimes were playing "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" recapturing a moving passage by Gordon Crump:

I must go back to Lindsey Hill and see the lights again
One evening soon, I must go back to Lindsey Hill and see the lights again. Hearing again from memory the beautiful chimes that played at dusk. Those who believe Thomas Wolfe's admonition that "you can't go home again," never lived in Columbia. .. nor attended Lindsey Wilson College.

Tonight, we experienced the feelings expressed in Gordon Crump's eloquent tribute to his adopted home town, in an essay the historian "Jim" reminded me again, just days ago, "is easily the best article ever published on the magazine," G. Crump: How I discovered Columbia . . . when Columbus didn't.

Merry Christmas, Mr. Crump. Thanks for continuing to make Adair County, KY, your home. Thanks, "Jim," for recognizing a true Adair County Treasure, and for making Adair County your home in your heart. -Ed Waggener
