Christmas Lights 2010: Guardian Street

2010-12-10 - Photo by Linda Waggener. 100 Block, W. Guardian ST, Columbia, KY
Linda Waggener writes: Seeing the lights of Christmas in Columbia is a great pleasure in and of itself. It brings out the child in all of us. For me, I never see a delightful Christmas card scene like this one, the home of Sandy and Brad Conover, without thinking of my Mother, Geniece Marcum, or remembering my mother-in-law, Audrey Waggener. My Mom loves this time of year, which is even more special for our family because her birthday is Christmas Eve. Mrs. Waggener, who was one of the most selfless people I ever knew, and was not a great one for any unnecessary travel, eagerly indulged in the minor extravagance of family chauffeured trips around town at Christmas time. She would have loved this scene. The photo's in memory of her, and for my Mom, who is with us in Columbia to enjoy it. The 1800s Federal style house was a great favorite on the 2009 Columbia Woman's Club home tour. As Mary Ann Loy put it so beautifully, the house let's one relax and in a moment, "You just think you are in another century." - Linda Waggener
