2010-08-05 - Photo by Ed Waggener. 2250 Cane Valley RD, Columbia, KY
James Lee Andrew, Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, has been building roads for almost half a century. He was at work yesterday, August 4, 2010, on a one mile stretch of Cane Valley Road between Kellyville to just south of the Cane Valley Baptist Church, working in weather with a heat index of 109 degrees F, on a project for the Adair County Fiscal Court. Mr. Andrew is the senior member of a paving crew Judge Ann Melton and Country Road Superintendent Jobe Darnell maintain is "The Best Paving Crew in the state." And maybe in America. Mr. Andrew was hired by R.E. Gaddie, himself, 47 years ago.
