Music stars, music legend at Chamber picnic

2010-06-16 - Photo by Ed Waggener. 2310 Hwy 55 South RD, Columbia, KY
The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Picnic was entertained by contemporary stars, Bill Bailey, left and Mark Harris, right>. Harris was responding to advice from Legendary musician Robert Flowers, who had just offered advice to calm the duo's pre-performance jitters. No worry, however: The performance was outstanding. Looking on is Betty Smith, there as the grandmother of the real star of the night, Aiden Cox. Flowers, performing arts buffs will remember, was, in his time, the saxophonist with two music groups: The Saint Six, which also included Darlow Rexroat, Tommy Davenport, Danny Forbis, Alvin Zimmerman, and (now Dr.) Ed Rogers; and The Sterlings, which also included Tony Loy, Victor Morrison, and Rollin Pyles' boys, Jerry, Harry and Mark. The Sterling were known almost as well for their tour bus, a converted Columbia funeral home ambulance, as they were for their great music.
