Limerick: Perilous life of baby robins

2010-06-12 - Photo by Barbara Armitage. Trabue Russell House, 201 Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY

Baby Robin falls from nest
Limerick by Billy Joe Fudge
Baby Robin falls from nest to ground
Momma flutters and flies all around.
But the first from the nest
Will often fail the test
So Young Robin soon utters no sound.
The photo above of a baby robin was taken by Barbara Armitage at the Trabue-Russell House on June 5, 2009. Too often, Limerick poet Billy Joe Fudge says, baby robins never make it even this far. "I think we all have witnessed the immature Robin falling from the nest tragedy numerous times; probably, each late spring. It never ceases to amaze me that so many young Robins fall victim to cats, dogs, and other perils before making it to adulthood."
The next previous Billy Joe Fudge Limerick is Cane Valley, KY, Limerick
