Scenic Adair Co., KY: A field of yellow (Yarrow) on West Egypt RD

2010-05-09 - Photo by Ed Waggener. Adair County District 6, 2010
Nearly every Adair Countian and every visitor to Holmes Bend at Green River Lake know West Egypt Road as one of the best places in America for Tree Tunnel Therapy. West Egypt RD is one of Adair County's shortest, but on the basis of postcard picture per part of mile, it may rank near the top in all the world. This field of yellow flowers (somebody more knowledgeable please tell us what it is; even Geneice Marcum is puzzled about it's identity and she knows everything about wildflowers, including their olden tymes names) is at the intersection of West Egypt RD and Rice RD. It has it all: brilliant, unbroken yellow, deep green of spring, blue Kentucky skies, and puffy clouds - the kind which won't hurt you.-Ed Waggener
"The yellow flowers pictured across that field (photo by Geniece Marcum - think I got it right) may be yarrow - I'm judging from the height of the plant and what little I can tell about the shape," Joyce Coomer wrote on May 11, 2010. "Yarrow is blooming in my yard right now." We like the answer. It's posted now with the photo.
