Lavender of Paulownia: A reminder of Addie Turner Leftwich

2010-04-25 - Photo by Linda Waggener. Adair and Metcalfe Counties, KY
"She was a beautiful, wonderful, maybe too indulgent grandmother. Her favorite colors were lavender and purple, and she loved those colors mingled in the spring blossoms of Paulownia trees. This spring, I thought of Addie Turner Leftwich each time I saw their show of color. Mom told me they had significance in our family history, when one of Mom's sisters was in the hospital in Glasgow. Grandma would be worried on trips to see her daughter, but these trees in bloom always took her mind off her worries. The photo above at right, is of Addie Leftwich at her 61st birthday celebration in Metcalfe Co.. The scene on the left is from Harrods Fork Loop between Sparksville and Breeding, Adair County, KY.
