Prettiest Spring Ever 2010: Eastern Tiger Butterfly and Lilac

A butterfly enjoys a feast of lilac nectar during the Prettiest Spring Ever 2010 in this gorgeous specimen of a plant which symbolizes love, in many lands, and evokes nostalgia, Walt Whitman and Abraham Lincoln everywhere. It is a favorite spring flower of many, and not seen as often as we'd hope. Columbia's avenue of flowers, Tutt Street, has a wonderful lilac in the front yard of Mr. James Hood. Another great display is in the yard of the Walker House on Frazier Avenue. Derek Coomer has identified the butterfly as an Eastern Tiger Butterfly. ColumbiaMagazine Group at Flickr
