Haunted Spurlington Train Tunnel in snow time

2010-01-07 - Spurlington, Taylor Co., KY . "This picture was taken in the last couple of years of the tunnel. One of the guys I work with took it," writes Amy Pike. "I thought they were great. If you have never been, it's a great experience. It's really popular around Halloween due to the legendary tale of Nancy Bass. It is said that Jessie James's crew hid gold somewhere in or around the tunnel. They killed a local witch (so they thought back then. -CM), Nancy Bass, and buried her body on top of their treasure. If you disturb their gold and Nancy, the legend goes, you will be haunted."
