Memorable Old Columbia, KY: Aesthetics of manhole cover

2009-11-19 - Photo by Pen. The aesthetics of this manhole cover make it interesting. The numbers have no significance to the Columbia Utilities Department, Water Superintendent Dana Rogers said, but the words "Hole of Kentucky" are very significant. That means, a J.R. Hoe and Sons marketing representative told us, that the manhole cover was cast at its foundry in Middlesboro, KY. When the company was reached on November 18, 2009, we couldn't learn right off what the number "V-1345" or "V-1845," means, but we may hear later.
