Birds of Kentucky: Red-tailed Hawk on KY 206, Adair County
2009-11-18 - Photo by Bub Polston. This red-tailed hawk was photographed by Bub Polston at his home on Liberty Road/KY 206 in Adair County on Saturday, November 14, 2009. "I think it's a chicken hawk," the photographer said. Comments welcome Wendy Burt identifies the hawk differently, writing "This appears to be a Red-tailed Hawk, the most widespread and commonly seen hawk in North America. They hunt rodents and other small mammals, reptiles, grasshoppers, earthworms, some fish an an occasional small bird or bat - not chickens!"
