Pictures from the Past: Youngs Mill
2009-10-04 - Russell Creek below Keen-Wilson RD, Columbia, KY - Photo from D. Roy Dykes. "These are 2 pictures of the old Young Mill on Russell Creek," writes Roy Dykes from his present residence in Florida, far, far away from his old Joppa, Adair County home. "I do not know the date they were taken." My guess is 1950s. It's the way I first remember it from bicycling days. The mill is located over a steep bluff on the south side of Russell Creek, across the road from the Clyde Hutchison farm on Keen-Wilson Road, between Ozark, and the twin villages of Old Joppa and Old Zion in the greater Glens Fork territory of Adair County. Comments, corrections, historical facts and anecdotes on the subject of the mill are welcome.-Ed Waggener
