"I fell in love with this location about nine years ago while working for Cumberland Co. EMS," writes Johnnietta Jessie with the large photo. "This house is in a bend of the Cumberland River. The location is Hwy. 214 in Monroe Co. It is in the community of Turkey Neck Bend." Upper left photo: "Better view of the Cumberland River and the front porch of the house. Most houses of this time period were built facing the river. My great grandfather was a cook on a riverboat on the Cumberland. I have heard my mother tell about hearing the riverboats blow their whistles and everybody would head for the river to see the boats pass." Lower left Picnicking area on the Cumberland River in Turkey Neck Bend.
