Birds of KY: Turkeys in the Holler

2009-07-18 - The Holler, Old Clearsprings RD, Ozark, KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne.
Some will see these beautiful wild turkeys Shamarie Claiborne captured as a part of the great natural beauty of Adair County, KY. But more practical folk will see these guys as seven wonderful holiday feasts on foot, another reminder that, for the resourceful, with a little lard, some store bought sugar, and a decent cornbread recipe the Creator has put Adair Countians in a land flowing with milk, honey, poke sallet, blackberries, rich venison, crappie which nearly jumps out of Green River Lake into the boat, and one of nature's finest delicacies, wild turkeys.
