The SAD DAY ONE OF ADAIR COUNTY'S MOST TREASURED LANDMARKS WAS LOST: Adair County Emergency Disaster Manager Greg Thomas writes, "Here is a picture I snapped of the Happy Hollow barn on March30, 1997." The barn was a victim of a tornado which touched down first on Charlie Morrison Road, then skipped over to hit land in the Cane Valley, Holmes Bend, and then the Pellyton community areas of Adair County, in an evening of weather terror. Update: LuAnn Grant points out that the tornado actually hit on Good Friday, March 29, 1997.
