2009-06-07 - Chat Chowning Farm, KY 704, Cumberland County, KY - Photo from the collection of Joe Chat Chowning.
The late Chattin and Libby Chowning by the private airplane at "The Landing Field," a 100 acre field along Crocus Creek along KY 704 the Chowlings used as an airstrip. Air flight was one of two means to get to town when the creek rose too high to ford. The other was was to float the creek to the Cumberland River, and thence to Burkesville, KY. The date of the photo, John Chowning remembers, was in the late 1940's.
