Epicurean Abroad: Cathead Biscuit

2009-05-03 - Moose Cafe, Asheville, NC - Photo by Pen. Some easterners do know at least a bit about breakfast. If you stop at the Moose Cafe at the Farmer's Market in Asheville, NC, you'll get a basket of cathead biscuits with your breakfast. These North Carolina staples are so-named because they're as big as a cat's head, and they're typically served with fresh apple butter. These biscuits are hard to photograph, because they tend to disappear quickly -- this one was gone seconds after this photo was made.
