Scenic Adair Co. KY: Corbin's Bend RD, prettier Laurel Trail now

2009-04-13 - Cliffs above Green River Lake, District 6, Columiba, kY - Photo photos by Linda & Ed Waggener.
RECENT BRUSH CLEARING WORK ordered by Adair County CJE Ann Melton along Corbin's Bend Road gave clearer views, ,center from the Jericho Cliff's over Green River Lake, and, very importantly, made the trail of Mountain Laurel much more visible and gave clear evidence that the plant is in much greater abundance along the roadside than previously believed. Mountain Laurel is the dark green plant in the very center of the photo. It usually blooms in the first five or six days of May and stays in flower for most of the month. It's seen above from earlier years center top photo and in the second from the top left and third from top right photos. The tree tunnel, upper left, is along the first half mile of the 2.2 mile Corbin's Bend Road. On the right, beautiful cedars in a summer sky along the road, and bottom left, the red barn is on the Holmes Bend Road, on the McFarland Farm, which is located on the NE corner of Holmes Bend and Corbin's Bend Road. The wetland photo third from left, bottom, is nearer Green River Lake. The redbud is representative of redbud along the road, but is actually from another area of Green River. Oh yes, the mailbox at 761 in the center photo has one of the reflective street number signs which allow emergency responders to quickly locate an address. They are not only useful, but attractive as well.
