A fruit of unusual size
2026-03-02 - EK Kitchen - Photo by Tom Waggener. Food science has accomplished a lot in the 21st Century, from less bitter Brussels sprouts, to increasingly fiery hot peppers, to the Big Boy variety of walnuts out in Cane Valley. However, recent advances in Blueberry Agriculture may require a whole new name for these giant fruits. Bluesimmon? Bluemelon?

Travel: Mosaic Canyon (2 of 4)
2026-03-02 - Death Valley National Park - Photo by Robert Ellis, robertelliswoodworking.com. Robert writes, "Well into the hike, we reach this small hurdle. The easiest way seemed to be to get down on all-fours. Tammy chose the left, and I the right, both of us feet first. We both made it without falling down. Coming back posed a whole 'nuther problem."

A little bit of winter returns Monday morning
2026-03-02 - Shelby County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Monday morning caught my family off guard after several days of warm sunny weather. Gray skies and temperatures hovering on freezing allowed just enough ice for my granddaughter Hailey to have an NTI day and extend our visit time. Birds in this picture are Canada Geese flying over Lake Shelby.
