Awesome ACHS band rolls through Russell County

2008-10-19 - Russell Springs, KY - Photo By Shamarie Claiborne.
The CONVOY OF CHAMPIONS: From an overpass over the Louie B. Nunn Parkway in Russell County, the convoy of champions stretches as far as the eye can seen, headed east, to London. The cavalcade moves in an order fixed by tradition, in a show of strength as disciplined as an army. The lead vehicle is always Director Tim Allen in his black Chevy SUV, followed by band personnel in three Adair County School busses, those trailed by two equipment semi's, then the Wiggle-Wagon and then pit crew, parents, fans and booster cars. One notable vehicle is the gray Honda Ridgeline driven by Doyle Lloyd, Pit Crew chief. Anyone who has ever had the privilege of participating ever forgets the pride, from far forward to the trailing vehicle of the being a part of a procession projecting the immense pride Adair Countians feel being a part, anywhere along the line, in Kentucky's proudest musical tradition. The band fulfilled every expection Saturday, returning to homebase at the Raymond Lacy Music Building on the Adair County School District campus with yet another Grand Championship, at the 18-band Cardinal Classic at South Laurel High School, London, KY.
