Downtown Days: A time to help Byron keep his special bike

2008-10-11 - Garlin, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
FIVE YEAR OLD BYRON MOSS loves the special Freedom Concept bicycle he got two years ago from a Canadian company, but his family needs help to pay for it or they will have to send it back. Byron is a surviving twin born prematurely at 26 weeks. He's mentally sharp as a tack, but has not yet begun to walk. The special bike helps him build up muscle strength, his mother said. The bike has dual controls, so that his mother, Jessica Moss, can push, brake, and control the direction of the bike when Byron needs help. Byron and his bike will be at a special booth downtown today, Saturday, October 11, 2008. A special fund has been set up at First & Farmers National Bank in Columbia, KY, to receive donations. Byron's booth is in front of Town Barber Shop.
