Smart Car causing quite a stir at Don Franklin Ford

2008-08-28 - Hudson ST, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Don Franklin Ford got its first Smart Car yesterday, Wednesday, August 27, 2008, and Sales Associate Steve Smith says it's caused quite a stir. The diminutive car, built by a Mercedes Benz company, gets 43 mpg on the highway, he says, and well over 30 mpg in town. It's price tag is $23,900 for this 2008 practically new car, he said; but, unlike most Smart Car dealer purchases, there's no waiting on this one vehicle. "At dealerships," he said, "you have to get on a list and wait a year." He said he expects a quick sale, though some of the gawkers get a bit cute. "You need to water it," one looker said.
