Crash closes Hudson Street Wednesday afternoon

2008-08-21 - Franklin Ford, Hudson Street, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
STREET CLOSED: Hudson Street from Walker Street to the new Greensburg Street access to KY 61 North was closed for several hours Wednesday afternoon and evening, August 20, 2008, after a vehicle clipped the utility pole above. Seven workmen from Taylor County RECC, were repairing the damage, above. In the buckets are Gary Smith and Johnny Edwards. Also there were David Karnes, J.D. Biggs, Amos Tackett, Dennis Roberts, and Adam Taylor from TRECC. Up ahead, Joe Vanarsdale of the Kentucky Highway Department routed traffic across Walker Street, while Craig Reece detoured traffic off Hudson onto Greensburg Street on the other end. Only one location, Jackie's Furniture, on the right, was without power because of the incident. Workmen on the scene said that the driver of the vehicle blacked out at the Walker Street stop, his vehicle struck a glancing blow against the green overhead door in the building on the right, then came back onto Hudson Street, then clipped the utility pole before striking seven vehicles displayed at Franklin Ford. The driver was not injured, according to information received last night. Kentucky State Police Trooper Jamie Richard of KSP Post 15, Columbia, KY, investigated the incident, and units of Duo County Telecom were on the scene as well.
