Good crop of pole beans at Glens Fork

2008-07-12 - Old Glens Fork Rd., Glens Fork, District 3, Adair County, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
BILLY FLETCHER'S FAMILY is already enjoying green beans from the garden at his farm on Old Glens Fork Road, Glens Fork, and the tasseled sweet corn is high over his head. Fletcher raises a one-tenth acre vegetable garden behind his home on a beautiful suite of farms stretching from KY 768 almost to Yellowhammer Road. Besides green beans and corn, he has cucumbers, peas, butterbeans, tomatoes, hill onions and cabbage, though he doesn't like to talk about cabbage. It's the only part of the crop which failed this year. Most crops around Glens Fork are doing exceptionally well this year. Some of the prettiest burley tobacco in the county can be seen along KY 55, particularly the big crop on the Phillip and Alice Hadley Farm.
