Scenic Adair Co.: Quiet cove on Green River Lake

2008-06-23 - Arnolds Landing, Green River Lake, Knifley, KY - Photo By Linda Waggener.
FLOATING A QUIET COVE at Green River Lake at Arnold's Landing, Knifley, KY, these two were enjoying the magic of a very special place in Adair County. Arnold's Landing is one of the best kept secrets in Adair County; though memories of special places on the one time main highway to Knifley, when the ride was on the back of pickups and the trip on gravelled roads took upwards of an hour, from Columbia, come back for children of the 1940s and 1950s; memories of a stretch of road with natural air conditioning from the shade and a mind trigger that Knifley was close at hand, with welcoming aunts, uncles, and cousins to play with, and that great platters of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and garden fresh tomatoes would be ready for Sunday dinners, the kind Knifley cooks cook best.
