Gradyville Buggy Ride: #9 Hob's Store

UNTIL JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO the old store building which once housed Walker Bros. General Store and the Gradyville Post office, was decaying graciously. "A storm did that about two weeks ago," Andy, the Amish guide said. The store was last operated by the late Hob and Opal Walker, and thrived merchandising a general line of groceries, hardware, clothing, shoes, feeds, and gasoline, which was pumped by hand in to a glass bowl for measurement before being gravity fed to cars below. In the 1950s, the green grass was a lightly graveled parking lot where outdoor speakings and medicine shows were often held.
