Fountain Plaza is on: Visionary ponders next need 2008-05-24 - Fountain Plaza, Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener. The Fountain is Flowing, in time for the Summer Tourist Season, and Joe Moore, who oversees the fountain, ponders the next step improvement for the plaza. The basin of the pool has been painted, but the tables, benches, and grid work are needing a new coat of black paint and the exact placement of the new bicycle rack being donated for the plaza by Lindsey Wilson College's maintenance department still needs to be worked out. Mr. Moore said that in the past, goldfish have been added to the pool, and he is thinking about putting them or other aquatic life in the pool it make it more interesting. The geraniums which the Adair County Garden Club planted at look good, and the vinca is growing. There is a lot to consider, but he's encouraged by all that is happening, including the prospect that a new occupant may be moving into the building most recently occupied by La Paloma and before that, the delightful Cafe Columbia.
