Larry Smith Photos from the Past: Earl Jones Store, Yuma

2008-04-16 - Yuma, near Knifley, KY - Photo From the collection of Larry Smith.
LARRY SMITH, The WAVE NEWS 92.7 FM ANCHOR, and South Central Kentucky historian, sent a fabulous photo from his archives, and writes: "Here's a photo taken in the early 1960s. This store was located at Yuma near Knifley. The store was torn down during the building of the Green River Lake. I'm not sure why the government took so much property and destroyed so many landmarks that were never used for the lake. Maybe the lake plan changed after the communities were aquired. Knifley was a good example. Many of the old stores and landamarks in the Knifley community were taken and it forever changed the landscape of the Knifley area. If you have stories or feed-back please submit it to ColumbiaMagazine.com." To see other Larry Smith Photos from the Past, enter his name in the searchbox.
