Larry Smith, 92.7 the WAVE news anchor and South Central Kentucky historian, sent this wonderful photo of the Campbellsville 4th of July celebration. Notes, clockwise from left: The Coke sign is where Crouch's Grocery was located. The next little brick building was the home of Johnny Burkholder Insurance. The tall tower, next, is Citizen's Bank Building. The third floor, with a man sitting in the window, was once the home of WTCO radio. To the left of the tower is can be seen a hint of the dome on the Campbellsville Christian Church. The bell tower on the building in the top of the photo was over the Campbellsville Methodist Church. Surprising many of the buildings are intact. Main Street in Campbellsville is being revived under the leadership of Mayor Brenda Allen and interested business people. This photo was taken from a roof top in the 1940's looking down on Main Street. Today Campbellsville is the home of the largest 4th of July Celebration in Kentucky.
