Birds of Kentucky: Ring-billed gull

The RING BILLED GULL is the most commonly seen gull. They can be seen almost anytime panhandling at Green River Plaza in Campbellsville, KY, and occasionally in the IGA Shopping Center in Columbia, KY. Ring billed gulls with a better work ethic are seen at Plum Point on Green River Lake. Tony Harvey added this note (2007-03003, "Mischaracterized as a seagull, this bird readily follows farm plows or scatters over meadows after heavy rains to feast on drowning earthworms.They have been known to steal food items from a persons hand, they have a sweet tooth as well."
