Tree across Neat Hollow Road leaning more

2008-01-30 - Neat Hollow Road, District 1, Adair County, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
PATRONS of DOUG AND CATHY GRANT'S STORE at Ella, KY, have been monitoring the tree blown over in last night's windstorm through the North side windowlight. "It's leaning more since this morning," she said at noon Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Mrs. Grant said that she watched a crew of Adair County Road Department inspect the problem this morning. "They looked at it and just scratched their heads, got back in their truck and left." Adair County CJE Administrative Assistant Lisa Lee, who had not yet been on the scene, said earlier in the day that removal could necessitate bringing in equipment the county does not have, itself. The worry was that the tree could continue its fall and crash into the outbuildings if removal were attempted without additional equipment or that the tree could fall into the roadway. Traffic has been maintained this moring. Contacted later in the day Lee said that the problem will be handled in the morning. "The timber companies up there have equipment which can do the job," she said. "We contract with one of them to remove the tree."
