Circle R down, Jan. 1, 2008

2008-01-01 - Russell Road, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
"IT WAS JUST BEYOND SAVING," Michael L. Stephens, the new owner of the Circle R property said. This was the state of the landmark property on January 1, 2008, when Mr. Stephens was contacted. "We looked at it," he said, "but it was simply beyond repair." That doesn't mean that there may not be a new Circle R rise again on the site. "The Circle R name is one of the most recognized brands in several states. People want the kind of food they served there," he said. "We may be able to bring it back." But for now, the goal is to clean the site up and make it ready for its next use. The Circle R was gutted by a Monday evening, July 9, 2007 fire. Click here to read the earlier story.
