PEP Toy Drive: Kids helping other kids

2007-12-29 - Columbia, KY - Photo By Sonja Chafin. The PRESCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (PEP) collected gently used toys for the Columbia-Adair County Jaycee's Christmas Toy Drive, which was originally established by Columbia Cares. That organization turned the program over to the Jaycees about three years ago. The event helped the children focus on sharing with others. The children were led by Sonja Chafin, Director; Teacher Allysa Gooden and Lauren Prater, assisted by LWC students Laura Pfeffer and Heather Mayes. "We make a big deal out of the program by encouraging the kids to give to those children in our community who would not be receiving a lot for Christmas," Director Chafin said. The PEP program is held Tuesdays and Thursdays at Columbia Baptist Church.Clicking Read More accesses the "Today, Sat. Dec. 29, 2007" feature.
