Ron Hale has to cheer for lots of bands

2007-10-22 - Garlin, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
HE SAYS HE'S NOT PARTIAL to his daughter, Debbie Hale, just because he's wearing a Nicholas County Band t-shirt today. Ron Hale, owner of Fitness First and Fitness First Snack Bar, is also the father of Eric Hale, band director at Bourbon County High School. Bourbon County came in second to Adair County in Class AAA Saturday in Louisville. And Nicholas County was third in Class A. In addition to those two schools, he always roots for Adair County as well as for the bands directed by Adair Countians Jeff Hood and Andy Critz at the state meets. He says the band tradition all started one Christmas when Santa gave Eric a trumpet, Ronnie a set of drums, and brought a flute for Debbie. Ronnie became a thoroughbred trainer, but the other two children chose music as careers. Ron Hale's business is located 3 miles out KY 206. The "snack bar" is a full sized dine-in restaurant which serves full breakfasts and the time honored Adair County tradition of a "meat and two" plate lunch, with a different special every day. The distinctive home in the background was designed and built by Ron Hale, "stick-by-stick" he says. The upper level has spectacular views across to Bull Run Road.
