The Fred Flintstone Wall is now mammoth Adair landmark

2007-10-08 - Burton Auto - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Sherman Wayne Burton has added a whole new dimension to drystone masonry, with the Great Wall he's constructing, which he calls "The Fred Flintstone Wall," in his spare time around the Burton Auto Care & Salvage acreage on the SE intersection of Greensburg Street and the Columbia Western Bypass. The giant stones are placed with a front end loader. The wall in the foreground is approximately nine feet tall. Mr. Burton's father, Sherman Burton, said that the wall might go another course high. It extends from near the Paul Mann Road junction with Greensburg ST, around the the CWB to the Adair County School property. The view above is from on top of the hill parallel to the CWB, looking across Greensburg, across Hudson across the pier for the CWB overpass, to the CWB KY 61/61 connector. It's huge size and interesting landscape is sure to make it a marking point for travellers, if not a tourist attraction.
