Taking a last walk across historic Simon Finn bridge

2007-10-04 - Kemp, KY - Photo By Tim Kessler.
The Kessler boys take a last walk across the historic Kemp Bridge at Simon Finn's store. On the left, Keaton Kessler, and right, Colin Kessler make symbolic walk across the old bridge, now most useful for little boys to plunk rocks from, (all under very close adult supervision, as the Kesseler boys were) but no longer really safe to support the trucks laden with tons of tobacco or heavy equipment which must pass this way. Across the bridge is the Charles Pickett place, in Green County. The scenic highway wanders past the beautiful, cedar shaded Orr Cemetery, to Cedartop Road, where one can go east to Clay Ridge and Columbia, or cross Russell Creek again, near the Green County Summer Shade United Methodist Church. The boys were out on Sunday, September 30, 2007. Demolition was scheduled to start this morning and the road is closed, for now.
