Pictures from past: Cow Days in Greensburg, 1930s

2007-09-08 - Greensburg, KY - Photo From the Larry Smith photo archives.
Larry Smith, South Central Kentucky historian, sent this grand memory of Cow Days in Greensburg, KY, in the 1930's, with a note, saying, "I thought that since Cow Days are coming up, this photo would be appropriate." It's easy to see that it is a different era, but readers of any age who are familiar with the beautiful downtown would recognize the locale. Because many Adair Countians now take KY 55 and KY 210 and the Lincoln Parkway getting to Louisville today, they may not be familiar with recent restoration and enhancements in downtown Greensburg under Mayor Lyle Cheatham, who also operates a business in Columbia. A visit to Old Greensburg is one of the best 37 mile round trip vacations a Columbian can take. Cow Days celebration this year in Greensburg, KY will start at 8:00am Friday, September 14, 2007, with food booths, games, music and lots of visiting with old friends. On Saturday, September 15, 2007, there will be all this again plus the Cow Days Parade. Larry Smith is news anchor at WHVE FM 92.7 The Wave and The Wave
