A date to remember in Adair Co. History: Short Creek Bridge Day

2007-08-06 - Dunnville Road at Short Creek Bridge - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Short Creek Bridge officially open this morning The Adair County Road Department, Jobe Darnell, supervisor, is taking down the "Road Closed" signs on Dunnville Road as a first order of business this morning, on official orders of Adair County CJE Ann Melton, CJE Admnistrative Assistant Lisa Lee announced.. This photo was taken on Sunday, when some boys in the neighborhood were already using the District One span. The bridge was built with Emergency Road Funds authorized by Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Rural Roads Commissioner Ginger Wells. The opening beats the target date by three days. County officials had expedited the work to have the bridge ready for Adair County School opening on Thursday, August 9, 2007. The wonderful tree tunnel here and at other spots on Dunnville Road are gifts of God; Ann and the ACRD had nothing to do with that, except to have the good sense to leave them alone.
