There are now two officially in race for District 1 Magistrate

2007-07-17 - Adair Courthouse Annex - Photo By Ed Waggener.
Danny Goodin looks on as Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair completes the paperwork Tuesday morning, July 17, 2007, for Goodin's candidacy for the unexpired term for Magistrate in District 1. Goodin won the Adair County Republican Executive Committee's endorsement last night at a 6:00pm meeting of the Adair Annex Building. He will face Independent candidate Gene Dale Holmes in the district, which includes Eunice-Pellyton, Little Cake, and White Oak. Goodin is a retired Cummins Engine employee who has worked part-time at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home for the past six years. Holmes is sales manager for Miller Distributing Company, Purdy. Democrats, who make up around 10 percent of the District's registration, have not yet named a candidate. The November 6, 2007 election winner may take office immediately after being certified. The vacancy resulted from the resignation of Magistrate Roger Stephens.
