Gov. Fletcher presents $9 million-plus check on visit today

Governor Ernie Fletcher, second from left, and Transportation Cabinet Secretary Bill Nighbert, right, back, presented a symbolic check for $9,789,628.00 for Cumberland Parkway Rehabilitation State Construction Funds to Judge Ann Melton for the People of Adair County, as WHVE FM 92.7 the Wave's Larry Smith captures the moment for the radio audience. Mayor Pat Bell is behind check, and Adair County First District Magistrate Roger Smith is between Mayor Bell and Ann. Governor Fletcher insisted that Sue Stivers, right, Executive Director of the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce, be a part of the ceremony, citing the Chamber's role in economic development. A standing room only, overflow into the hallway crowd estimated at over 150 people crowded the Adair Annex meeting room. The event was organized by Judge Melton and her staff.
