Wolf Creek Dam 2007: Work Underway

2007-02-11 - Wolf Creek Dam - Photo by Pen.
Bulldozers, backhoes and trucks were in constant motion on the lake side of Wolf Creek Dam on Saturday, February 10, 2007. According to Adair County Emergency Management Coordinator Greg Thomas, the part of the dam needing the most attention is the the area where the the concrete section of the dam meets the earthen section. Variation in color shows effect of lowering the water level (the top of the darker brown section is the summer pool level, and the lighter brown near the bottom indicates normal winter pool). The standing tubes will be filled with concrete grouting. Much of the concrete will come from Pyles Concrete, Inc., Columbia, KY, plants in Adair and Russell Counties.
