Five Texans fly to Nashville, motor to Columbia, for quilting lessons

2007-02-04 - Pieceful Valley, Dunnville Road, Columbia, KY - Photo By George Kolbenschlag.
Pieceful Valley Quilting Camp: Denise Stewart hosted five women from Texas at her Pieceful Valley Quilting Camp, located near the Casey County line on Dunnville Road off KY 206 in District One of Adair County, this past weekend. Stewart instructed the Texans in the art of quilting. The quilt pattern, in the background and foreground, is two halves of "Quick Trip Around the World." In the picture, seated, from left, are Texans Debbie McCown, Jean King, Jodi Kirksey, and Adeline Phillips, the mother of the women who are seated. In the back are Denise Stewart and Sheryl Phillips, daughter-in-law of Adeline Phillips. The event was Mrs. Phillips' birthday. The five students flew from Texas to Nashville, TN, and rented a car for the trip to Columbia. Dr. Jay Stewart, Denise's husband and a professor of biology at Lindsey Wilson College, was the chef for the occasion.
