Vernonica Mouser, not pictured, acted as clerk of the auction. The event was the 10th Annual Fall Ham Supper and Auction at Bearwallow United Methodist Church. Bro. Troy Long, pastor, said that approximately 200 attended tonight. A number of candidates, including both First District magisterial candidates, Gene Dale Holmes and Roger Stephens, were there, as were Jailer Bug Knight and Sheriff Steve Cheatham. The church holds a fish fry fundraiser each spring. In addition to country ham, there were green beans, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, coleslaw, white bread, hot dogs, great tubs of iced canned and bottled drinks, and a specialty of outdoor griller Bobby Strange, soy burgers. Two groaning boards of pies and cakes led almost everyone into temptation. Unless the church brought in a bunch of ringers to chef, Bearwallow surely competes for having the best cooks in Adair County. A good time was had by all. Permalink | Comments?
