David Burris and two fine Asimona trilobae

2006-09-21 - Photo by CM staff.
Other than his family, the Republican Party, the Methodist Church, Jersey cows, and Adair County in general, David Burris is about as passsionate about pawpaws as anything else. The fall delicacies are ripe now. Burris harvested this pair of Kentucky bananas on his Tarter's Chapel place in the Greater Portland area of northeast Adair County. Pawpaws have a taste one loves or hates. Believe it or not, they are now grown commercially, and Kentucky State University in Frankfort has the experts on them. To see some great photos of the beautiful yellow pawpaw flesh and to visit the KSU Pawpaw Information Site Click here. Kentucky State University, according to KSU Pawpaw InformationSite, has "the only full-time pawpaw (Asimina triloba. L. research program in the world."
