2006-09-19 - Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener. THE GRIDER FAMILY WAS IN THE SPOTLIGHT at September's Chamber of Commerce meeting at Lindsey Wilson College, for having recently won four World Championships, including one World Grand Championship) in the 2006 National Tennessee Walking Horse celebration at Shelbyville, TN. From left above are, back row: Tommy and Marsha Grider, Julie's friend Chris Tucker, and Brent Grider. In front are: Martha Caldwell, Julie Grider, and Brent's wife Courtney and their little five-month old daughter Harper. In the Chamber meeting, Mayor Pat Bell presented keys to the city to, "two young people who make Columbia so proud -- Julie Grider and Brent Grider." Mayor Bell remembered working with Tommy Grider in community planning, and he said, "Adair County's economy benefits from the horse industry because of people like the Grider family. Everything Tommy Grider has touched in this city has made it better." (Watch for the feature story on the Champions coming soon to ColumbiaMagazine.com).
