Western Bypass route overlaid on satellite photo



2006-09-12 .
Commissioner Marc Williams displayed this satellite photo with an overlay showing the path of the Western Bypass in Columbia. Commissioner Williams noted that the scoping study for the Eastern Bypass is already in the works. The Eastern Bypass, a much shorter route to the Louie B. Nunn than the six-mile Western Bypass. Previous studies showed that 60% of the southbound traffic on KY 55 (Campbellsville Road) would be headed east, and would be bound for either Kentucky 80 or the Louie B. Nunn. Thus, an Eastern Bypass might shunt more traffic off Columbia streets than the Western Bypass will.
