Tourism meeting includes honor for the late Phyllis Smith



2006-09-02 - Burkesville - Photo by linda Waggener. Sue Stivers, left, Adair County Tourism Director, was in Burkesville Friday morning with SEKTDA representatives honoring the late Phyllis Smith. Also present were Major General Paul Smith, center, accepting the plaque in his late wife's honor from National Scenic Byways Director Jeff Crowe. To Smith's right are SEKTDA Community Development Director Van Back and Tourism Outreach Director Theresa Russell. Present but not pictured were: mural artist Pat Ritter, Cumberland County Heartland Waterways Corridor representative Laura Lee Butler, writer Margery Henderson Fuller, and Hazel Hagan. The group was photographed in front of the new tourist information gazebo. Three-sided information panels will be installed inside it for visitors and locals to learn more about the county and the byway region. Click 'read more' to learn about the work.
